Salted Bourbon Caramel Sauce
Makes two 8 ounce jars.

Ingredients
1 can sweetened condensed milk
1 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup bourbon or rum
1 tsp vanilla
1 tsp sea salt
Directions
In a heavy bottom sauce pan, add a can of sweetened condensed milk, butter and brown sugar.
Turn heat on medium and stir until butter is melted.
Once butter is melted, cook for an additional 5 minutes stirring with a rubber spatula
After 5 minutes dip spatula in the sauce and turn it over, run your finger down the middle if a line stays clear- the sauce is done.
Taste to ensure that the brown sugar has completely melted and is not grainy.
Take off heat and let cool for 1-2 minutes
Add 1/2 cup of bourbon and sea salt, caramel may bubble up, keep stirring until the bubbles subside
Let cool and decant into 8 ounce jars and tie with a pretty bow.
How do you use this lovely sauce, incredible over ice cream, drizzle over cheesecake, put it on waffles or stir into hot tea, put in between butter cookies or make a hot drinking caramel, add 2 tablespoons to warm milk- like hot chocolate but better!
