🎃 Mummy Brie Bites
Ingredients:
Mini brie wheels (such as Président Baby Bries or similar)
1 sheet puff pastry (thawed)
1 egg (for egg wash)
Candy eyes (or sliced black olives / peppercorns as an alternative)
Optional: Jam for inside — pineapple habanero jam would be AMAZING 😉 (or any jam of your choice)
Instructions:
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Prepare the Puff Pastry Wraps:
Roll out the puff pastry sheet.
Cut it into thin strips (about ¼ inch wide) — these will be your mummy “bandages.”
(Optional but delicious) Add Jam:
Place a mini brie on the baking sheet.
If you'd like a gooey surprise in the center, gently slice the brie in half horizontally and add a small dollop of pineapple pepper jam before closing it back up.
Wrap the Mummies:
Lay puff pastry strips over the brie in a crisscross pattern, leaving a small gap for the "eyes."
Don’t worry about perfection—messy looks more mummy-like!
Brush with Egg Wash:
Beat the egg and lightly brush the pastry strips for a golden brown finish.
Bake for 12–15 minutes or until puff pastry is golden.
Add Eyes:
Once slightly cooled, press candy eyes or olive slices into the exposed brie area.
Serving Idea:
Plate them on a dark board with a little extra jam on the side as "dipping blood." You could even drizzle some across for a spooky effect!
